September 22, 2006; Saturn

Georgia -

Saturn is a drag -- I'm a Leo. I'm not sure I like what all this stuff about Saturn in my sign. Gotta favourite source you can tell me about where I can learn more about this? Thanks much!

G.

Dear G.

Most bookstores don't have many astrology books. I'm not sure what city you live in. Banyen Books in Vancouver is excellent.

They will ship books to customers. As will Bodhi Tree Books in West Hollywood (another fabulous store).

Also Astrology et al in Seattle - another great selection.

It's important to remember that Saturn is the Great Teacher in the zodiac. Yes it does seem to confine and restrict us, but it's all for a purpose.

People are much more inclined to learn more about themselves and their limitations during a Saturn transit. I think the definition of maturity is: discovering your limitations, accepting them, then learning to function to the best of your ability within those limitations.

(The other definition is knowing how to eat in public without spilling food all over yourself.)

We are constantly bombarded by extremes. On one hand, we have the hope and dream that if we want something bad enough -- anything is possible. The other extreme is -- that will never happen to me. But both extremes are not realistic.

And I think Saturn is all about finding that middle ground that actually works for us. Saturn teaches us what we cannot or can do. This knowledge is empowering. (In large measure, we can all do far more than we think we can.)

Under a Saturn transit, we often have to work harder and live with limitations. But this is a maturing process, and at the same time, it builds our confidence. Sometimes we're at school; sometimes we're on vacation. Saturn is the school experience.

And remember -- Saturn rules our life structure, even down to our skeleton and teeth. It defines our shape. It also rules the skin. It contains us or holds us in. Without Saturn, we'd be a disgusting, mushy mess on the floor! (Yuk.)

Therefore, do not think of Saturn as just a bad news trip. It's an opportunity to learn -- to become more mature, to pull your act together, to understand yourself better, and also to learn how to work and live in the universe with more efficiency and responsibility.

Leo, Aquarius, Taurus and Scorpio are learning this now.

Hope this helps -

September 21, 2006; Bad Year

Hi Georgia

I enjoy your horoscopes a lot, I am a Scorpio and I'm finding that whatever the Astrologers have said in the past year is way off for me, actually it been quite the crappy year. I was just wondering if it's ever going to turn around in all the aspects of my life

Thanks
L.

Dear L.

This is a time when Scorpios are very powerful. They see what is working; and they also discover what is not working.

Do not view what is not working as a failure - it is just information - cut bait and move on....

However, we all have at least 2 charts..... and one is based on the time of day you were born - not just the fact that you are a Scorpio. Perhaps that is the chart that might be challenged this year?

I think the best approach to handling this challenging time is to try to be as full of loving kindness to others as you can be - loving kindness and compassion....

Why?

Because when you isolate yourself - and you are only concerned with your own problems, and your own life, and needs and wants, then your world is very small. And therefore, your problems seem to be big.

But when you are concerned with others around you - concerned with their happiness, and their wants, and needs, and welfare -- then your world grows much bigger and therefore, your problems become smaller.

Weird but true. (I heard the Dalai Lama say this.)

Good luck!

September 18, 2006; Pluto

Hi Georgia

So now that Pluto is officially dead, how will that affect our astrology analysis? It is no longer a ruler.

Please reply –
Dr. W

Hi Dr. W

… not sure if I replied to your note - I have been working off 2 different computers lately--- but to me that is just a committee decision. For me - it's just business as usual - and Pluto is alive and well doing its thing..... I wrote an article about Pluto for the Nov issue of Elle (Canada) Magazine.

Cheers- Georgia

Hi Georgia

This was your first reply back to me, so thank you!

I hope Pluto doesn't decide to retaliate against the earth for our new decision about it?

God Bless

Dear Dr. W

Actually, I do not believe that the planets are causal, per se. I think their movement in our Solar system provides us with a patterning of knowledge from which one can make certain deductions.

I am just a map reader.

Everything in the Universe is interconnected.

I suspect the separateness of things is an illusion that we project on to reality because we have a dualistic perception of the world. So fear not – Pluto won’t “do” anything.

Having said that, Pluto does rule countries and transformation through deep change. Perhaps the message in all this is that our planet – and the relationships of the countries on it -- is undergoing a redefinition.

September 7, 2006; Full Moon

Hi Georgia

Hope you had a good summer. My question is: Do we feel the affects of the full moon differently if we live in the big city or quietly in the forest. The fullmoon looks stronger I'm wondering if the pull is stronger...I know it pulls the water element inside us which accounts for some strange behaviors. ?

Thanks W.

Dear W.

That's a good question and frankly I don't know the answer. But here is what I think. Each Full Moon is an opposition between the Sun & the Moon, and these are qualities within each of us i.e. the Moon governs our feelings and emotions and habitual patterns of behavior, whereas the Sun influences our overall energy and our analytical determination to reach out for what we want. The Moon is sort of "past" oriented and the Sun is more "future" oriented.

Each Full Moon sets up an opposition within us - either an opposition in our feelings and attitudes toward something or (and this is more obvious) an opposition where we cannot satisfy two different areas of our life - for e.g. home & family versus career.

We will feel this opposition "fighting" within us - creating an inner tension wherever we are -- city or country. But I suspect that in the country, we might feel calmer because we're removed from the city stress, and also have the advantage of being replenished by better air, quiet and a more peaceful environment in general. This cud mellow us out - and in turn, make us appreciate the beauty of the Full Moon. We might notice its presence more and because of this we think we "feel" it more. It might interrupt our sleep for example.

In the city, we might not even notice the Full Moon (but this harvest Moon is impossible to ignore!) however, the increased tension to the tension we already feel will definitely be there.

I see that I have not answered your question. I think the answer is simply -- it's a different experience - because the city and country are different experiences.

I live in a quiet forest on an Island and I have been watching this Full Moon build each evening through the trees. I even went out several nights to look at it.

However, right now I am in the city, and I sat out on a back porch last night looking at the same Full Moon through the trees - and it was lovely.

I think our awareness is whatever it is wherever we are.

(Of course, time flies when you're unconscious.)

All best -
Georgia

August 31, 2006; The Leo Crunch

Hi Georgia:

Leos like myself (July 30th 1972 / Jutiapa, Guatemala) have been hearing much about the money crunching celestial alignments from your column. I certanly corroborate your observations.

Now is any more specific advice that you might be able to send my/our solar heart way?

Thanks for the continued positive spin,
Anon.

Dear Anon,

The good news is that Saturn leaves Leo in Sept 2007 - not to return for another 29 years. At this time Leos will (if they have not already done so) move into a new dimension of their lives. They begin the process of re-inventing themselves. This process will take between 5 - 7 years. (Sometimes longer.) It is one of the most fresh, exciting new developments that we (I'm a Leo, too) will face in our lives.

Courage!
To Infinity and beyond!

July 29, 2006; Mercury Direct

Hi Georgia: Its still mercury retrograde until August 12. Well, I've been looking for work and have one opportunity starting Monday July 31 a trial run for 2 weeks--for them and me to see if we work.... What do you say about trying out jobs as I've mentioned above, when mercury retrogrades? Thanks from A.

Dear A.

It's a bit more complicated:

Technically, Mercury goes direct on Friday, July 28. So you are actually in the clear so to speak. From that point, Mercury starts to slowly move forward - all the time picking up speed - (this is in relation to planet Earth.)

However, Mercury does not return to the degree it was at (when it originally went retrograde on July 4th) until Aug. 12. Therefore, it is not until after Aug. 12, does Mercury truly "go forward" again. Oy!

I would wait until Aug 12 to buy a car for example. But you should go ahead and explore this trial run.

(It does sound confusing, doesn't it?)

All best!

July 28, 2006; Shopping Times

Dear Geoergia: When you say we should avoid shopping, do u mean shopping for something specific, or if I go shopping and buy clothes, will I be at bay for trouble? haha. thanks again for your great horoscopes!

E.

Dear E.

Poor times to shop (Moon Alert times) apply to everything except food. This means anything from buying one T-shirt - to buying a company that makes the T-shirts i.e. minor or super major purchases like a house etc.

During these poor shopping times, whatever we initiate or begin tends NOT to fulfill our purpose.

i.e. You buy something intending to use it, but instead it does not work. Or you lose it, or you use it once or twice and then it just hangs in the back of your closet - or it is an item like a tool that proves to be of little use.

However, these are not necessarily "bad times" - in fact, they can be quite fun socially and creatively. They are simply poor times to make practical decisions.

Good luck - and congrats on begin hip to these times.

Cheers,
Georgia

July 3, 2006; Time flies

My sun sign is Virgo and it seems that living has taken on a new dimension and intensity. Im wondering if it is because I am 59, my karma, or my own intensity. I've taken into consideration mercury in retro and the confusing nature of the world, as my ego knows it. It seems like the world around and separate from me is speeding up and getting more out of control. How do you see the situation? Is it guiding our society into more love or more fear?

Dear W.

Yes, I do think that there is an acceleration effect. However, as we age, our relationship to time changes. I recall as a child thinking that summer holidays lasted a year.... (Plus as I always say - times flies when you're unconscious.)

However, our perception of time is subjective. Einstein said, "Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. That's relativity."

On the other hand, your ability to meditate, and reduce the busyness of your life, and cut out television can make life slow down again. I don't have TV (but I do have a monitor so I can rent movies - but a week can go by without me watching one) and TV is a big time suck. Major!

Also even if society is unraveling around you, this does not mean that your own personal development has to go to hell in a hand basket. In fact, when things around you are bad, you actually have more opportunity to practice kindness and generosity and patience and tolerance. And you can often make greater 'progress' in your own personal growth.

I think the main thing to remember is that we each have 24 hours a day - rich or poor, old or young. What we do with that 24 hours is our life. (In an accumulated way.)

Ben Franklin said, "Time is the stuff life is made of." I think of life as a moving belt - from the moment we are born we are moving towards our death. The interval between birth and death is our life.

Simple. Well, I must pour another coffee and get back to my Suduko.

Cheers

June 9, 2006; A Taurus asks about life...

Dear J.

Loved the Trudeau quote.... "I've upped my salary now up yours." (Ha ha.)

Many people who like to write initially write journals and letters.....

Me thinks you might share more of your thoughts in some fashion. (She said, sighing at the ever-receding prospect of writing her own book.) I do want to write a book - but my columns (volume of words) constitute about 6 books a year - so the trick is to write the 7th one.

I cannot quite imagine what it would be like to retire...... I think I will be writing columns forever....

ciao for niao!

But before I close I have to say something:

Your first note to me showed me you have a question right now in your life.

You are wondering about stuff. Or questioning your choices and your future objectives... Perhaps wondering if you are functioning to your most excellent degree....

Although I do believe our purpose in life is to be happy - I believe the greater more lofty purpose is to grow inwardly and practically (economically or whatever) so that we become more efficient instruments to practice virtue.

Which is another way of saying becoming people who can make a positive contribution to other beings...

I think you are flirting with this notion - don't you?

There's an old Eastern observation:
  First comes the thought
  Then comes the word
  The word becomes the deed
And the deed eventually hardens into habit.
  Habit of course, becomes character...

So watch your thoughts with care and let them spring from loving kindness....

ciao!

June 7, 2006; Children

Hi Georgia:

How do you interpret forecasts focused on children, if there are none in your life?

. . . this seems to come up quite a bit, and I never know what it means in my life.

Love your column.
Regards, D.

Dear D.

Good question. Whenever I am talking about children this is a 5th House reference. However, the 5th House also refers to gambling, the theatre, the arts, the entertainment world, show business, professional sports as well as vacations, romance and love affairs. Therefore, if there are no children in your work related or home environments these other areas area similar affected. So if playful activities with children get a positive boost - similarly those other areas get a positive boost. (But I might not mention them all in a column.)

Cheers!

June 6, 2006; Birth Time Accuracy

Hi Georgia -- I read your articles every day, they are great! Can you tell me if your birth time is off by about two minutes will it make much difference, and if so why? Thank You Regards C.

Dear C.

Sometimes it can make a considerable difference, and some times it's no big deal.

Think of it this way - most times in life we can take one or two steps in any direction and it doesn't matter much. Other times just one step could kill you! (Open elevator shaft.)

For example - imagine you're standing in the hallway of an apartment building. The door to someone's apartment is open. If you take just two-steps, you have entered a strange apartment. This could alarm the residents who live there. They might even call the police. With just two steps you have trespassed private property (someone's home.)

However, if you're in that same apartment hallway, and you take two steps down the hall. - sure, it is slightly different, but it's really no big deal.

Sometimes two minutes can change the Rising Sign - and all the signs on the four major cusp points (6 o'clock, 12 o'clock, 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock.) Also the Moon changes signs every 2 and a half days. Quite often two minutes can give you an entirely different Moon sign - and that is major.

So it depends on the other configurations in your chart whether or not two minutes will make a big difference. In some charts - it will; but in most charts it won't. Capice?

June 5, 2006; Mercury retrograde periods in 2006

Dear Georgia !!

Thank you for your insightful horoscope. I love it and live by it (or at least try).

When is Mercury retrograde gonna loom over us again ?? I would like to be prepared.

And since I am at it, my birthday is 25. March 19--, does that mean I am more Taurus than Aries now ??

I would love to hear from you, yet I understand if you haven't got the time to write to me. So a warning about Mercury retrograde would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks a million and have a great week !!

H.

Dear H.

Your answer in two parts:

Being born March 25 means your Aries Sun is at 4 degrees. Therefore, in 1996 when you were about 26 years old you became a Taurus and you will continue to be a Taurus until 2027 - when you become a Gemini for the rest of your life.

You will be 57 years old then and will suddenly be very curious to learn, study travel and explore many things. You will likely take up crosswords or new forms of Suduko or whatever clever puzzles are popular then.....

You won't be bored in your old age!

Regarding Mercury Retrograde:

MERCURY RETROGRADE PERIODS in 2006

(These are poor times to buy bikes, cars and trucks; computers, printers and phones; or to initiate important projects or open a business. They are good times to finish things.)

  • March 2 - March 25 -- takes place in Pisces
  • July 4 - July 28 -- in Leo then moves back to Cancer
  • October 28 - November 17 -- takes place in Scorpio

I posted this answer because I think others are interested in this too.

May 31, 2006; Met someone new

Hey Georgia,

This may seem a little over the top -- but I think it might be time to delve into a bit more of my psyche....maybe a reading?

Just have a 'sense' there is something MORE I should be paying attention to with this new (maybe NOT) fellow. I cannot stop thinking about him...(seems to be different than many men I have known - romantically or otherwise). I know you don't necessarily perform 'MAGIC'...(or do you hee - hee) ...but damn close girl! (grin) or perhaps it's something I should have been be paying attention (unknowingly) to that may have nothing to do with this new fellow.. and I need to be more present in MY 'Existence"

Bottom line -- I don't want to let a fabulous opportunity pass me by...ya know? And the more I talk to him, the more I want to share my time with him....i THINK i could do this!

,,,looking for a bit of a nudge (one way or the other!!! I CAN HANDLE THE TRUTH!!(just get in the freakin' car!)

Always,
S.

Dear Leo S,

You are funny

Relax

You don't need a reading.

You are just anxious and excited and nervous and hopeful and worried and afraid and eager.....

I can relate.

Of course, the enlightened approach is to have no hope and to have no fear..... the fewer expectations the better. You want to try to be in the moment as much as possible. (Easier said than done.)

Because whatever relationship you have with this guy will end - for sure. Finito.

All relationships end in the three D's - death, divorce, or desertion.

So it is just a matter of time - and time is the part we don't know about. .... days, weeks, months, years?

Therefore, he is a temporary lovely bouquet in your life. You don't need him. (He wasn't there before, right?)

Just enjoy him.... and enjoy yourself. And rejoice that you have at least met someone you are even THINKING about! (Shee girl! That in itself is something. Think of all the times you weren't thinking about anyone who cud really turn your crank.)

Count your blessings... and go forward slowly with as little judgment as possible. See what's for dinner....

Good luck!

May 17, 2006; Confidence

hi georgia,

i just wanted to let you know how the reading you did for me about 2 years ago affected me. . . i guess i had been happy with the status quo at that time. now, i am choosing to follow the potential that i may have. I am entering a new master's program at _____University called 'global health' next year. i hope this program will lead me to doing great things . . .

i am thinking of coming to see you again in the future for another reading . .

K.

Dear K.

You don't need another reading. Just keep your goals high...... you have exceptional ability.

It is actually your responsibility to acknowledge this.

If you think you are capable - and you aren't - this is arrogance.

If you think you are capable - and you are - this is confidence.

Without confidence it is almost impossible to achieve great things... so believing in yourself isn't just fluffy feel good stuff. It is a vital aspect of your ability to accomplish something and in turn, benefit others as well as yourself.

May 16, 2006; Pisces Attraction

Hi Georgia

I read your column regularly in the Province and you are fantastic! Keep up the good work!

I have a question I was wondering if you could help explain to me.

I have a friend..and we're both quite um..sexually attracted to each other..and I'm just curious to know if our signs have anything to do with it Here are our birthdays.....

(Signed)
K.

Dear K. - Thanks for your kind words.

At a quick glance I can see that you are both water signs (Pisces and Scorpio) and this is always good - the same elements have similar energy patterns.

But what makes the sparks really fly is that you have Venus in Aries, and she has Mars in Aries so her Mars can always seduce your Venus.

(In other words, you think she is hot!)

There's more. You have Mars in Capricorn (excellent business savvy); and she has Venus in Taurus so she in turn, she is seduced by your Mars!

Therefore, you are each really sexually attracted to each other.

Mars is the aggressor in sex and Venus is the receptive and biased impulse.

Happy sails!

May 15, 2006; Progressed Charts

Dear Georgia

I read somewhere that as a person becomes older he moves into the next sign of the zodiac. Is this true and how long does this take to happen if true?

Thank you,
Sheila

Hi Sheila,

Yes this is true. At birth your Sun is at a particular degree from (zero to 29) - and each year of your life the Sun moves ahead one degree.

For example, if you were born on the very day the Sun entered your sign (right on the cusp), when you're about 30 years old, you "become" the next sign.

This does not mean you lose the qualities of your original Sun sign, but you will start to take on the qualities of the new sign as well.

Similarly, if you are born roughly in the middle of your "sign" (around the 5th, 6th, 7th of the month), when you're 15 years old, you start to take on the attributes of the next sign. This also means that 30 years later, (around the age 45) you become the next sign as well.

I never used to read mysteries. And now I do. That's because both my progressed Moon and my progressed Mercury are in Scorpio.

I just finished a book I recall seeing on the bestseller list over a decade ago, and at that time I thought, "Eek! Too creepy! Not for me!"

But I am becoming more and more Scorpio the older I get. In fact, I have it marked on my calendar that on Aug 1, I will become Scorpio Rising. ("No prisoners!") Like wow!

I expect to have an increasing interest in jewelry, medicine, and mysteries and crime novels. And great sex! (One can only hope.)

However, despite this, I will not actually become a Scorpio for several years i.e. progressed Sun in Scorpio.

This illustrates why some people mellow and other get more assertive and feisty.

Hmmm - when I really become a Scorpio, I'll invite Darth over to celebrate. (Talk about heavy breathing!)

May 14, 2006; Mercury Retrograde Preparation

Hi Georgia,

How far in advance do you prepare your column? And what do you do to bolster up for Mercury retrogrades???

Barbara

Good question, Barbara.

Knowing that the next mercury retrograde will be in the sign that my own Mercury is in (i.e. I expect it to impact my lifestyle more than other Mercury retrogrades) -- I just bought jumper cables to have them in the trunk of my 'new' car. (I expect the worst!) But at least I will be as prepared as I can be.

I will also make sure that my back up laptop computer gets fixed (and thanks for reminding me.)

I also initiate any ventures I am trying to get off the ground ahead of time - or wait until after the Mercury retrograde period is over...

I will also target a project I have been procrastinating about for that time. It is easier to finish up old business during Mercury retrograde. (If I manage to do this, my web site will offer you the chance to read the transcripts of some talks that the Dalai Lama gave in Vancouver 1981 that have never been printed before.)

May 1, 2006; Sign compatibility

Hi Georgia,

I love the weekly forecast. They are witty and fun to read. Thank you.

I have a question on compatability. I was told that I am a Scorpio (born Nov 22nd.... ) As far as I understand that is right at the cusp of Sagittarius. I recently met someone who is 10 years my junior! We have incredible chemistry together but have a constant battle because of the age and maturity differences. He was born on Feb 12..... I looked up some astrology sites and found that Scorpio and Aquarius is not at all a good mix while Sagittarius and Aquarius is a fantastic combination.

Would you please give me some insight on what you think of our compatibility?

Thanks in advance.
C.

Dear C -

Do not get hung up on the "sign" compatibility thang. How we all relate to each other (romantically or otherwise) and how we're attracted to each other is more complicated than that.

For e.g. If your Moon is in the same sign as someone else's Sun, this is great for friendship and mutual understanding. And two people with the same Rising Sign can really hang out easily together. People with their Moons in the same element (water, air, fire or earth) can live together more easily. And we are attracted to others if they have something in the same sign as our Venus because Venus is where you have a bias or an easy attraction.

You have Venus in Capricorn, so if you meet someone who is Capricorn Rising, you'll think this person is good looking. If the person has Mars in Capricorn, they easily seduce you. If they have Sun in Capricorn - you will genuinely like them - ditto for the Moon.

This is why it is too simplistic to go by the little books that say Aries and Leo and Sagittarius are great; or Cancer and Scoripio and Pisces are star-crossed lovers. This is just dealing with Sun signs of the same element.

You are far more than just your Sun sign.

In your case, if you were born earlier in the day (in China) you have Moon in Libra and Sun in Scorpio. If you were born later in the day, you have Sun in Sagittarius and Moon in Scorpio. Either way you have Venus in Capricorn.

Just go with your heart. Go with what feels good. If he feels too young, or you don't get along, or either one of you is critical of the other - then let it go. If you really like each other - then continue to explore this!

Good luck.

April 20, 2006: Cancer fun

Hi Georgia,

I'm a Cancer (July 17) who reads you horoscope every day and weekly. I have noticed that you have been talking a lot about technical schools and universities. The thing is I can not afford to go back to school. I work shift work and I have financial problems. I want to go back to school and if I won the lottery I would do it. Also, vacation? What is that? My other question is: Are these the after effects of Saturn? Anyhow, thanks for hearing me out.

E.

Dear E.,

Your question to me is well founded.

Your situation is not the after effect of Saturn leaving you. Vacations are definitely the effect of Jupiter going through your 5th House of love, romance, vacations, pleasure, parties, fun times, increased activity with children and sports.

It is considered to be one of the happiest transits in over a decade.

However, because you are a late Cancer - all this fun stuff about vacations and romance and parties etc. has not yet come to your chart.

This happy influence will arrive for you around the beginning of November 2006 and it will stay for a year! Other Cancers will be encouraged by your question...

Thank you.

April 18, 2006: Why are you always talking about shopping?

Why are you always talking about shopping? i don't have money to shop with.

John.

Dear John,

I have been asked about this before, and I welcome a chance to answer this again because the line about the Moon Alert is the most important line in the column (in terms of using my daily for practical purposes.)

I am not a shopper either. (I blow my money on restaurants and movies) But here is the bottom line:

The Moon is so close to planet Earth, it actually affects us. It has a gravitational pull on bodies of water and we are mainly liquid. Factoid.

Every 2 1/2 days, the Moon changes signs (just like the Sun changes signs every month.) Just before the Moon leaves one sign to enter the next one - it reaches a point where it makes no major mathematical aspect to the other planets in the Solar system. In other words it is sort of 'dangling' in space (if you will.)

When this happens (and this time period can last for 10 minutes or 10 hours) - astrologers say that the Moon is void-of-course.

Are you still with me?

These Moon void-of-course times are what I refer to in my Moon Alerts. They are generally excellent times to do yoga, or meditate, or create art, or write poetry, or have sex, or party or goof off..... but they are terrible times to do anything serious or to spend money.

Ancient texts claim actions that are initiated in these times "come to nothing." They do not fulfill their intended purpose. Therefore, if you spend money in a Moon void-of-course, whether you are buying a company, a car or a pair of shoes - this purchase will not meet your objective.

So --- if you're buying a company - you want it to make money. If you buy a car - you want it to run efficiently and please you in its function and use. If you buy a pair of shoes - you intend to wear them.

But Moon void-of-course purchases will not fulfill your intentions. The company you buy will not be profitable; the car will have problems, or be stolen or get totaled; and the shoes will only be worn a few times, then they'll sit in your closet getting dusty.

I never shop (except for food) when the Moon is void-of-course. I try to keep things light and enjoy myself. It's as if we're helium balloons afloat without strings attached to ground us during those times. These are not "bad" times. They are goofy times. And they are extremely poor times to make important decisions - to accept a job, choose a house, get married, sign a contract or spend money on anything.

Therefore, even if you're not a shopper (and I think most people are not shoppers per se) - you need to be warned about these times, in case that is the day you did decide to buy something. (Super major or minor.)

People who are self-employed and making big purchases (buyers, builders etc.) should especially heed these warnings. Oy!

And now a break for a commercial - but don't go away.....

This is why I sell the Moon Alerts for your cell phone. They arrive the night before as a text message and cost 25 cents a message. ($1.75 a week - billed to your phone.) (Peanuts when you consider your potential savings.) You can start them or stop them any time.

To get the Moon Alert you send a one-word text message: MOON to the phone number STARS (78277).

To stop getting it - just text STOP MOON to the same phone number (STARS (78277)).

So - I feel very strongly that I have to alert people about when it is not safe to shop (for a huge purchase or a small one.) This is why I mention this phenomenon every day. On the days when I say we have the All Clear to shop - I don't really mean people should go out and shop. I am not a big consumer nor do I wish to promote consumerism. I just want a daily "weather warning" so people can us it as a guideline when they need it - even if you only shop once a month.

Capice?

April 3, 2006: Is Mercury Retrograde Over?

Hello Georgia. Is Mercury Retrograde over now? If so, when did it end? The past few days March 30 to even today but today seems a touch calmer, have been so crazy energy out there -- people everywhere, wild drivers, lineups, and on and on . Am I just imagining it? So, if starting something new ie. buying a home during merc retro then the possibility is such that there could be and will be complications?

Thanking you, A

Dear A -

You are so right. You can now go ahead with your plans for purchasing whatever... Mercury actually went direct on Sat. March 25. However, it is still moving slower than usual - and will resume its regular speed around the 6th of April. (I use these terms; but of course, in reality Mercury maintains its constant orbit - going forward around the Sun. However, in relation to planet Earth it "appears" to go backwards - or stay still or slow down or speed up.

When these 'appearances' happen - the events that Mercury rules on planet Earth likewise slow down or get bogged down. (Mercury rules all forms of communication and ground transportation as well as may dailies activities and most certainly newspapers, magazine and the postal services.)

Having said the above about Mercury - I must say that I do not believe that whatever Mercury does actually "affects" us. I think the Moon is the only thing up there that actually "affects" us because the Moon is close!! It has a gravitational pull on bodies of water and we are primarily liquid.

Astrology is just a patterning of knowledge - like chemistry or physics. (Admittedly a softer science.) Everything is interconnected and what happens in one place can be interpreted as phenomena somewhere else. In other words, the movement of the planets is a source of information for us - but they are not causal. (In my opinion.)

Now that your brow is furrowed - go have an espresso to jumpstart your day! Mercury is moving forward. Lulu's back in town!!

Re: Sunday weekly for March 27, 2006

Someone from Alberta writes:

Hi Georgia,
Re "Many, many people are suddenly aware of the needs of others. There's a strong desire to be useful and help others." --- I just helped pull off Edmonton's 4th annual fundraiser for Child Haven International (children's homes in India, Nepal, Tibet & Bangladesh) this weekend. Our numbers were incredible - about 360 people plus 2 dozen children attended and we raised 21, 000. 50% more people and 50% more money than last year. Hopefully indeed it is that kind of global response to people in need that you are seeing and not a response to another global catastrophe.

M.

And Leo from Yahoo asks:

What would indicate a catastrophe? The outpouring of sympathy?

My response:

HI - As I said in the All Signs this week, at the time of the Tsunami, I did not see a catastrophe per se in the stars. What I did see was an outpouring of sympathy and concern for the underprivileged or those who are suffering and in need. And this, sadly was the case.

With the current planetary transits in mind (for sympathy) last night I scanned the new and did not see anything untoward. (Of course there is always bad news.) However, as I read the New York Times 2 things hit me: -

  1. Many people (even the organizers of these events) were surprised at how many people throughout the US have shown up to march in protest of the pending new legislation against unlawful immigrants. I think half a million marched in LA, and of course, thousands in other cities as well. This surprised people. But this is an outpouring of sympathy and concern for the downtrodden as it were...

  2. The other thing (just in my own world): I read a new item (actually a slide/video show on the NYT) about a Pakistani woman who was tortured and forced into a brothel and she escaped but now the courts might send her back! I was so taken with her plight I wrote the NYT urging them to follow this story and help this woman. Now I don't normally do that - and I read bad news in the NYT every day...

so - to answer your question -

Those are the only 2 examples (in my own observation) of a sympathetic reaction to things. Of course others will have this sympathetic reaction to personal matters within their own families or within the context of their own lives.

So the catastrophe can be global or it can be millions of individual responses to their own private worlds...

Hope this answers your question.
